June 29-30, Podgorica – SEETO Railway and Intermodal Policy Working Group held its 27th in row meeting in Podgorica, Montenegro. RWWG continued with the practice of separated topical session. In the first part of the meeting, session on Regulatory and Competition aspects took place. During this session, Croatian Regulatory authority for network industries (HAKOM) presented ’Conformity assessment of a service Facility Network Statement“ with special focus on identification of port operators, template and joint network statements.
In the second, plenary, part of the meeting, participants were introduced with the Network statement for the border crossing points by Ms. Sabine Langer and Mr. Klaus Uhl and with ERTMS implementation scenarions for the WB corridors by Mr. Giacomo Potenza. For the end of first day, members of the working group gave an overview on the latest developments in rail reform in their national framework.
On the second day, representatives from the regional ports were welcomed together with some of private operators from Serbia and Albania. Port of Bar representatives gave a presentation regarding their latest activities and future business plans. In continuation of the meeting, Mr. Cesk Radovani and Mr. Eduard Pllumbaj from Albanian Betonplus Company shared with the participants their experience of developing business and starting a new rail freight service in Albanian rail market. Additionally, first private operator in Serbia presented his experience of a new entrant. After a short discussion meeting continued with two more presentations related to the situation on the wider region, Ms. Styliani Fassa from Thessaloniki Port presented recent developments in on of the major ports in Greece while Mr. Udo Sauerbrey focused on the recent progress on rail reform in Turkey.
