On 6 December 2017, at Hotel Berlaymont in Brussels the 53rd SEETO Steering Committee was held. The meeting began with a welcome and opening remarks from SEETO Steering Committee Deputy Chairman, Mr. Gjynejt Mustafa, Mr. Alain from European Commission and SEETO Secretariat General Manager, Mr. Dejan Lasica.
SEETO Steering Committee members from the regional participants, as well as the SEETO Secretariat participated in the meeting.
The meeting was used to discuss the latest developments regarding the Transport Community Treaty, the state of play in regards to the connectivity reform measures for rail freight corridors, road safety, maintenance, road border crossing facilitation, as well as the role of EC technical assistance in regards to these measures. Also, the regional participants were informed and updated about the activities and productiveness of the SEETO working groups and regional visits, which contribute to steady improvements in regional cooperation, and finally the sustainability of SEETO.
The meeting was finalized with agreed conclusions on the discussed topics which are to be shared among all SEETO SC Members.
