At the meeting, the Project Study on road transport facilitation is welcomed by the participants as it will lay down grounds for more efficient border operations.
The consultants will carry out the missions to all Border Crossing points (BCPs) and relevant authorities in the period January-April 2018, and in doing so they will be supported by the national contact points from the Ministries of Transport, Custom authorities and Border police. The European Commission will facilitate the project outreach to the authorities of the EU MS, if needed.
The inputs from CEFTA, SEED and World Bank to the project are welcomed and consultants are encouraged to incorporate and use them where feasible, as well as to consult them in the course of the projects for the relevant deliverables.
The meeting included the field visit to the Sukobin/Muriqan joint Border Crossing point, which was useful and very much appreciated. It provided a first-hand view of BCP functioning , advantages, problems and possibilities for further development.
