Bridging European Regions workshop at European Parliament

BRUSSELS – The new Ten T guidelines and their impact on the European transport policy and cohesionworkshop was held at the European Parliament in Brussels, on April 3rd, 2014. Workshop was organized in the framework of ACROSSEE Project.

The aim of the event was to illustrate to the European legislators and relevant stakeholders the main objectives and results achieved so far by the ACROSSEE project and to discuss effective strategies for supporting European integration of the SEE region through regional cooperation in the field of transport.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Antonio Cancian, MEP TREN emphasizing the importance of South East Europe transport system and stating that achievements could multiply by regional transport planning synergies. The presentation of current activities and initiatives in South East Europe done by DG MOVE, DG REGIO and Italian Ministry of Transport followed.

SEETO General Manager Nenad Nikolic stated that connectivity within region exists on the Comprehensive Network level and that much more could be done by improving regional transport system. Ongoing Flagship Axes initiative is launched to improve efficiency and competitiveness of the most important SEETO corridors by preparing the set of measures for cutting the travel time and costs.
