Short Summary "Support for Implementing Measures for South East Europe Core Regional Transport Network Multi Annual Plan (MAP) 2008-2012" EuropeAid/125783/C/SER/MULTI The contract for the project was signed in June 2008 by a Consortium led by White Young Green Consulting (UK) which also includes TRADEMCO (Greece), VIENNA Consult (Austria) and TRL (UK). The project runs until November 2009. The goal of the project is: "to continue to pursue joint efforts for fostering a harmonized reform and integration process in the transport sector across the South East Europe Region and to support the improvement in the efficiency of the SEE Core Regional Transport Network". The project is made up of two components relating to MAP 2007-2011 key areas of reform and the respective objectives for each component are, as follows Component A: RailwaysTo assist the participants in the SEE Core Regional Transport Network for implementing MAP soft measures in the railway sub sector, with the focus on: infrastructure Access and Pricing Regime, on Network Statement and on Railway Border Crossings. Component B: Road Safety AuditingTo assist the participants in the SEE Core Regional Transport Network for implementing MAP soft measures in the Roads sub sector, with the focus on Road Safety Audit. The most important results related to this Component are:
In addition, four workshops are foreseen for Component B covering the above topics. When completed, it is expected this project will have contributed to closing the gap between the seven SEE countries and the EU in the railways and road safety domains from administrative, legislative, organisational, operational and efficiency points of view, and to the earlier integration of these countries to the EU in the years ahead. |
