| Electronic toll collection system introduced on Belgrade-Nis highway |

22. 12. 2009 Source: EMportal BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic attended today, at the Bubanj potok toll gate the opening of the electronic toll collection (ETC) system for the Belgrade-Nis highway.
The public road company "Putevi Srbije" put this system into operation at the 10 main toll gates at the Belgrade-Nis highway. The toll gates in question are Bubanj potok, Mali Pozarevac, Vodanj, Smederevo, Batocina, Jagodina, Razanj, Aleksinacki rudnici, Aleksinac and Trupale. Director of the Sector for information technologies in transport for Putevi Srbije Milenko Despotovic explained that this system enables drivers who have a special device in their vehicle to travel from Belgrade to Nis without having to stop at toll gates. He added that this project was developed by the Mihajlo Pupin Institute and those only domestic contractors and resources were used. System was developed by domestic professionals, according to the European standards which will be obligatory as of 2014. The ETC system already exists on the highway between Sid and Belgrade. |
