Conference on “Corridor VIII: A Bridge Between Adriatic and Black Sea”

TIRANA – Regional  conference on “Corridor VIII: A  Bridge Between Adriatic and Black Sea” was held in Hotel Sheraton in Tirana, 29-30 April 2010. The Ministerial Delegations of Italy, Albania, the former Yugoslav  Republic of Macedonia  and Bulgaria participated in conference and expressed the desire to develop a stronger partnership cooperation among the respective countries to strengthen the development of the Corridor VIII East-West transport Axis. Corridor VIII is one of the Trans European Network Corridors recognized by the European Union: an intermodal West-East link between the Pan-European Transport Areas, Adriatic/Ionian Seas and the Black Sea. It starts from Bari and Brindisi ports (Italy) and arrives at Bulgarian ports on Black Sea crossing Albanian, the former Yugoslav  Republic of Macedonia  and Bulgarian territory. A joint declaration on the Corridor VIII is signed by Ministers of Transport of four countries.
Representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank attended the conference and are interested in participating in the project.
